What’s that brewing in the Hemel and Aarde Village?

By Maxitec Webmaster / 13th May, 2019 / News, Things to do / Off

The Hemel and Aarde Valley is well known for its high-quality wineries in stunning and picturesque locations. With fantastic vineyards like Creation Wines, Newton Johnson, Ataraxia and Sumaridge a short drive from the Robin?s Nest, you may be interested to learn that something new has been brewing closer to home.

About 30 yards from the Robin?s Nest Guest House is the Hemel and Aarde Village, with the exceedingly well established Hermanuspietersfontein Winery and Whalehaven Wines, a newcomer has recently opened for business, one which has traded those grapes for grains.

The Hemel and Aarde Brewery serves locally crafted beer, serving the Hermanus Lager and the richer Pale Ale straight from the tap. Now everyone knows that when you?re enjoying a few cold ones, you need to also snack. The Hermanus Brewery caters for its patrons extremely well, with an attached restaurant serving delightful food, a great place to stop and while away an afternoon.

If you don?t want to sit inside, or you?re bringing a whole gang, the brewery has an assortment of smaller, more intimate tables inside or long benches outside ? so it really does suit a gathering of any size.

And because you?re just around the corner from the Robin?s Nest, you don?t need to drive and can walk back very easily. We recommend visiting this lovely addition to the Hemel and Aarde Village while you?re staying at the Robin?s Nest.

If you would like further information, feel free to ask us when you arrive. You can also Visit Hermanus Brewery through their website.

Hermanus named the world’s best Whale Watching spot in the World!

By Maxitec Webmaster / 6th May, 2019 / News, Things to do / Off

Good evening from a very beautiful Hermanus. We just recently read some news from one of our favourite magazines thesouthafrican.com…

Apparently Hermanus has now been named the World’s best Whale Watching spot, and while we are not surprised, we are certainly proud to share this fantastic news about our local community.

The article reports that the London Telegraph Newspaper has previously named Cape Town as the world’s best city, and now their roving travel reporter Nick Frost has described why he thinks Hermanus deserves the top spot for watching these magnificent and majestic jewels of the sea.

If you have a spare five minutes, you should certainly read the article, which names 10 of the best places in the world to spot Whales:

    • The South African: Hermanus, Western Cape named world’s best whale-watching spot

The Robin’s Nest Guest House is ideally located if you’re interested in Whale Watching, and there are lots of exceptional spots a short drive away from our front door.

Our team are pleased to be able to book a number of options for our guests, whether you’re looking to see the Whales from the Ocean, or from land. The Whales tend to be in town from as early as June until as late as December.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Robin’s Nest in the very near future,
